| Description |
| The Police Chief works under direct supervision of the City Manager, the Chief supervises a staff of 54 sworn and 19 non-sworn staff members with budget responsibility of $4.5 million. The successful candidate must have dedication to internal communications and employee involvement. Community participation, analytical thinking and problem solving are essential. Preferred qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors or higher education degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in police science, criminal justice, public administration or a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience equal to the above. Plus, a minimum of ten years of recent, related work experiences, to include service, as chief or assistant/deputy chief or equivalent. |

| Requirements |
| The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of success in the following areas: budgeting and cost savings; public relations; implementing community policing programs; implementing technology in police operations; and customer service programs. The Chief will be expected to be involved in initiating and maintaining active relationships internally with other City departments and externally with neighborhood groups, business and community leaders, and civic organizations. Candidate must have a current Oklahoma certification or ability to qualify by reciprocity. Preference will be given to a candidate with managerial experience in a department that had a collective bargaining agreement. |
