Description Nevada County is seeking a Wastewater Operations Manager to plan, organize and manage the Wastewater operations and facilities; improves, repairs, operates and maintains sewage collection systems and treatment facilities for Nevada County Sanitation District No.1; participates in annual budget development and provides and accounts for materials, equipment and supplies; performs related work as required. The District has recently completed substantial upgrades to three of its wastewater plants that total $40 million and has received new adopted permits for those same three facilities during the past year. The discharge for those three is in compliance with the new permits. Classification: This is the management classification responsible for the Department of Transportation and Sanitation's wastewater operations. Responsibilities include the development of the division budgets, establishment of divisional priorities, approval of budget expenditures for purchases of materials, equipment, and services, and approval of payments to vendors for services rendered.

Requirements • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil or sanitary engineering, environmental science, resource management or related field • Five years of experience in wastewater engineering, environmental health, or a related field, of which two years includes supervisory experience. Specific experience in wastewater collection systems and treatment facilities is highly desirable. • Possession of a valid driver's license within 30 days of hire. • Voluntary certification by the CWPCA in wastewater collection system maintenance and voluntary certification by the CWPCA in any of the five other wastewater disciplines is desirable.
